CRDMSA Thought Breaks
The Communication, Rhetoric & Digital Media Student Association hosted its first in a series of talks titled “Thought Breaks.” The purpose of these talks is to showcase CRDM research across campus and in the community. It brings together 2 CRDM speakers and a member from the community working in a related field to talk about their programs of research. I was honored to speak at the first event: “Thought Break: Public Talk on Health Communication”, along with Johanne LaBoy of CRDM and Stacy Shelp of the Orange County Health Department.
I shared the program of research I’ve been working on for the past several years, including health campaigns and video framing effects (although I had to skip the PR part of this), media and body image during pregnancy, and my current work that adds the breastfeeding outcome. It was a wonderful event, focused on the “outside world” implications of our work and bringing together an interesting group of research.
